The pure sulphur content also helps with removing dead skin cells and dullness. It’s thus called a “doubled-up beautifying hot spring”.

Sightseeing

As many as 160,000 sunflowers reach their flowery peak in the large field right in front of the Basaro Farm at the Harazuru roadside rest area." The single blossoms are as tall as 2m with a 30 cm flower. There is also an annual festival to celebrate the flowery peak (from mid to late September).
Wonderful views
Approx. 10 minutes to drive
The oldest auto-rotating and multi-unit waterwheels still work in Japan (designated as a national historic site). The waterwheels were created around 230 years ago. It starts to turn every year on June 17th at the Yamada Weir Water Opening Ceremony, and it normally draws water from the Chikugo River for agriculture from rice planting to harvesting. The fantastic illumination during the Obon period makes the spot even more fancy.

Approx. 35 minutes to drive
Imagine strolling around in kimono in Akizuki, a tasteful retro-chic town known as "a small Kyoto of Kyushu Chikuzen region" as Akizuki Ikedaya tailor makes kimono workshops for tourists (remember to make your reservation!). Be amazed by the wide variety of choices in different patterns and sizes. Make such a playful stroll in kimono your life-long memory.
Fukuoka City
Fukuoka City, approx. 1 hour to drive
Fukuoka City is metropolitan and full of innovation to see, experience, and explore. There are multiple large commercial complexes providing cuisine to enjoy, new experiences to try, shops to do shopping, as well as Japan's best food booths and night views. The seaside park also proves the city's rich nature, so you can have fun no matter when, with whom, or for what goals.
Yanagawa rafting

Yanagawa is a water town with an extensive network of waterways and ditches once vitally important as the water source for agriculture and fire prevention. The famous "rafting tour" brings you back to the ancient time. The historical stories and rhymes of the boatmen will also stay in your mind for long.
Kumamoto Castle
Kumamoto Castle,approx. 1 hour & 40 minutes to drive
Kumamoto Castle is the icon and a must-see in Kumamoto, a city where history meets with cutting-edge technologies. It is one of the top 3 famous castles in Japan, established by the famous general Kato Kiyomasa over seven years from 1601. Its majestic and elegant appearance is impressive. You might also spend some more time to visit the exotic Amakusa area if you are around.
